so i am back in botswana. it is fun and dandy sometimes, and sometimes i am lost. i find myself gravitating towards expatriates and not being able to hang with the batswana themselves. my friends are zambian, zambian, english and indian. why is that? chillers, help.
could it be that after being a foreigner for so long elsewhere, you find the company of other foreigners more congruous to the way you feel, especially as you are only newly-home?
ReplyDeleteI am yet to find a crowd to hang out with in Winchester, MA. I talked to a nice old man in the elevator yesterday; other than that my socialisation is online. Sigh.
that makes a lot of sense that that would be the case. also i think batswana get on my nerves with their complacency, and self-hate so in a way i find people who actually think this place is a good place.
